“Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference” – Virginia Satir

There are always going to be challenges in life. The way we handle those challenges can mean the difference between whether we allow them to control our lives or whether we find a more empowering way to meet each challenge as it arises.

When life doesn’t go the way you want it to, or you feel that things are not happening the way you expected them to, then the chances are you will react with stress, anxiety or frustration. You can become engulfed in a torrent of responsibilities, worries, pressures, thoughts and feelings. If you live your life on ‘automatic pilot’, you react to these situations in the way you’ve always done in the past, rather than making a conscious decision as to the best course of action in a particular situation.

Mindfulness training can help you find a more empowering way to respond to the challenges life brings you. It can help you manage your thoughts and feelings, and reduce stress and anxiety. Increasing scientific research into the positive effects of mindfulness on our health and wellbeing, at every level of our biology, psychology and social connectedness, has resulted in mindfulness being accepted and taught by healthcare providers around the world, including the NHS in the UK.
